On Saturday, February 6th, DDC’s Competition Team competed at National Dance Showcase in Somerset, NJ. This was our first competition of the season and I walked away feeling very proud of our team! It was a busy schedule but our dancers handled it beautifully and gave their all every time they graced the stage. I am thrilled with the scores, trophies, awards and invitations we received but I am so proud of our team for winning the “Backstage Studio Award”. What an honor! Below are the routines and awards given. Congratulations to our 35 members. Now, let’s gear up for 4 more competitions this season!!! Go DDC!

“Know It’s Too Late“- Pre Sr Lyrical Solo- GOLD and 1st Place Overall High Score for Recreational Pre Sr Solos!
“Sunshine, Lollipops and Rainbows“- Petite Large Group Jazz- HIGH GOLD and 2nd Place Overall High Score for Competitive Petites Large Groups! This group was also announced as a Jr Dance Off contestant and went head to head against another routine. The other routine won, but we were honored to be recognized by the judges as one of the two most entertaining Jr groups of the entire day!

“Lovely“- Teen Lyrical Solo- HIGH GOLD and 1st Place Overall High Score for Recreational Teen Solos!
“Somewhere Over the Rainbow“- Pre Teen Small Group Lyrical- HIGH GOLD, the “Sparkling Light” Judges Award and 1st Place Overall High Score for Recreational Small Groups!
“Music Box Dancer“- Petite Ballet Solo- HIGH GOLD, the “The Show Must Go On Award” and 1st Place Overall High Score for Recreational Petite Solos!
“Watchtower“- Pre Sr Small Group Lyrical- HIGH GOLD!
“Walking on Sunshine“- Pre Teen Acro Solo- GOLD!
“Sit Down You’re Rockin the Boat“- Teen Small Group Musical Theater- PLATINUM and the “Completely Committed” Judges Award! This group was also announced as a Sr Dance Off contestant and went head to head against another routine. We were honored to be recognized by the judges as one of the two most entertaining Sr groups of the entire day and are thrilled to announce this routine won the CASH PRIZE! Miss Amanda was also recognized with a “Choreography Award” for a job well done choreographing this amazing routine!
